Forklift Spotter / Shop Support (Seasonal – Temporary)
We are seeking a dependable Forklift Spotter & Shop Support team member to assist daily operations in our stone countertop fabrication shop. This is a hands-on, physically active role well-suited for someone who is safety-minded, reliable, and comfortable working in an industrial environment around heavy materials and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as a forklift spotter by walking alongside loads and guiding operators to ensure the safe movement of stone materials
- Monitor clearances and surroundings to prevent contact with equipment, structures, or other materials
- Communicate clearly with forklift operators using approved hand signals and verbal directions
- Assist with staging, loading, and unloading stone materials in the shop and yard
Additional Responsibilities
- Help-Lift Duties: Travel to job sites to assist installers with unloading countertops weighing over 100 pounds, requiring team lifting and navigation of doorways, hallways, and occasionally stairs
- Perform general shop and yard support tasks, including cleanup, organizing materials, and assisting other team members
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Adhere to all safety procedures, stretching requirements, and shop policies
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position requires the ability to safely perform the following on a regular basis:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions
- Occasional team lifting of materials exceeding 100 pounds
- Stretching prior to shifts and before heavy lifting activities
- Working in wet, dusty, and industrial environments
- Comfort working around heavy stone materials, forklifts, and active fabrication operations
Qualifications
- Ability to safely meet the physical demands of the position
- Valid driver’s license with a reasonably clean driving record
- Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Comfortable working around heavy materials and industrial equipment
Schedule
- Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM start time
- 35–40 hours per week
- Seasonal summer position
